The land

The small village of Usseglio is situated 1265 meters on the sealevel in the Graie Alps, at the top of the most southern Lanzo valleys. To the west, the border with France is delimited by the Alps among which the peaks of Rocciamelone (3538m.), Lera (3355m.) and Croce Rossa (3566m.).

Usseglio offers several possibiities like wonderful excursions at the bottom of the valley. For more trained people several tracks along the mountains.
The following tracks "Grande Traversata delle Alpi" (GTA), the "Sentiero Italia" (SI), the "Tour della Bessanese" (TB), the "Trek Calcante" (TC) and the "Alta Via Valli di Lanzo" (AVL) are very appreciated by alpinists. The Skylodge has a strategic position along the "Sentiero Italia" and the "GTA".

  • Mineralogical musem (Margone hamlet).
  • Entertainment activities with possibility of tasting the land products at the Menzio alp (during the summer season).

In the surrounding area

  • Malciaussia lake (8 km). Natural lake 1800 m high. Pearl of the Lanzo valleys with many walking routes.
  • Reggia di Venaria (45 km). La Venaria Reale is a grandiose estate just outside Turin. In comprises 80,000 square meters of floor surface in the Reggia and 60 hectares of Gardens, it was declared part of the World Heritage by UNESCO in 1997.
  • Torino (60 km). Most important town in the Piemonte region and first capital of Italy. To visit the Baroque and Liberty buildings, the royal residences, the Egyptian Museum, Palazzo Madama and the Cinema Museum.
  • Sacra di San Michele (60 km). The imposing abbey dominating the peak of Mount Pirchiriano, at the entrance of the Susa Valley. It was built between 983 and 987 d.C it remains one of the oldest places of worship dedicated to the Archangel Michael.
  • Langhe-Roero  and Monferrato (around 150 km). Vineyard landscape of Piedmont. A World Heritage Site including hills covered with vineyards, farmhouses and centuries-old cellars, towers and castles.
  • Gran Paradiso National Park (85 km). Protected area that was established in order to preserve the ecosystems of international and national importance of the valleys around the Gran Paradiso massif for present and future generations.
